What Is the Process of Getting Dentures?

We last touched on how dentures and partial dentures can help restore your smile, and in this post, we’ll provide a quick overview of what the process of getting new dentures involves.

Receiving dentures is a process that will take more than one visit to our office. First, Dr. Dave or Dr. Mike will give you an exam to evaluate the health of your mouth and address any potential health issues. If you will be receiving a complete denture and have remaining teeth, these may require extraction.

An impression will be made of your mouth, which will be used to design dentures that will fit you perfectly. You will need to return to Twin Dental for a fitting, where we will work to adjust the dentures to ensure they are the proper look and fit for your needs, and to give you a secure and comfortable fit.

An adhesive is usually used to help hold your dentures in place, but implant-retained dentures are also an option for those who are good candidates for the procedure.

Our team will provide you with instructions on the proper way to use and care for your dentures. They may take a little getting used to at first, but, when properly cared for, they will help you talk, chew, and smile for years.
